The Sr. Engineer, Network reports directly to the Manager, Infrastructure and responsible:

  • For the configuration, integration, implementation of network solutions. Work with Senior Network consultant for the architecture, design, and development of all elements of network plans/strategies that include: the physical/network layout, wiring schemes, open systems, product interfaces and implementation plans.
  • To provide consulting on product interfaces, vendor products and industry standards.
  • To deploy distributive network solutions to ensure system functionality, interoperability, availability, timely use, and business continuity.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Apply networking troubleshooting techniques required to analyze and solve protocol routing problems within large geographically dispersed networks.
  2. Use advanced networking troubleshooting techniques required to analyze and solve application-related problems within large geographically dispersed networks.
  3. Establish the networking environment by directing system installation and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  4. Direct technical support on LAN, WAN, and telecommunication equipment with understanding of all OSI layers from software to hardware with knowledge in EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP.
  5. Knowledgeable with Ethernet and the Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w, 802.1d, 802.1q) and Virtual Trucking Protocols.
  6. Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  7. Technical understanding and supporting: –
  8. Networking and network security from VoIP, VPN’s, enterprise routing, L3 – 7 switching, Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS.
  9. Implement and knowledge in Cisco networking hardware.
  10. Cisco network switches
  11. Cisco SDN ACI DC & SDA solution
  12. Apply fundamental networking troubleshooting techniques that are required to analyze and solve physical routing and switching problems within large geographically dispersed networks.
  13. Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
  14. Apply fundamental networking troubleshooting techniques that are required to analyze and solve routing problems within a large geographically dispersed network.
  15. Perform troubleshooting techniques to analyze/solve problems – Perform fundamental network troubleshooting techniques required to analyze and solve Layer 1 and Layer 2 problems within large geographically dispersed networks.
  16. Document the stages of a router startup. Establish how to complete router system setup. Identify the command used to log in to privileged mode on a router.
  17. Administration, support and maintenance of the network, security, video, and telephony infrastructure for the company.
  18. Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
  19. Resolve service impacting technical issues in a timely manner during business and out of business hours at head office, remote offices, and offshore facilities.
  20. Producing network, security, video, and telephony implement as per the requirements.
  21. Provide project implementation support during business and occasionally out of business hours.
  22. Proper documentation (both create and update) readiness in timely manner.
  23. Ensure compliance with corporate IT security policy and internal controls.
  24. Travel to remote/regional offices and offshore facilities for onsite support and project implementation, inclusive of ad hoc schedule.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT equivalent qualification from recognized universities/academic institution.
  2. Certification in Cisco is required for Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA-RS) & Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing & Switching (CCNP-RS).
  3. Hold a Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert certification or equivalent.
  4. Possess minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in managing large organization Networking and Communication infrastructures support.
  5. Possess five (5+) years of experience in Network implementation and support.
  6. Experience of working in a medium or large IT organization will be an advantage.
  7. Experience of working in Global Technical Support or an Operation team that operates 24 x 7 will be an advantage.
  8. Routing experience using Cisco IOS, and IP routing protocols.
