Assists Finance Manager in (i) Managing the financial reporting from subsidiaries/BUs, (ii) review/perform analysis of subsidiaries/BUs (which includes active oversight on annual budget submission, periodic forecasting, budget monitoring, cash flow planning, tax compliance, tax planning, adherence to all relevant accounting policies) and (iii) coordinating information flow between Group Finance and subsidiaries/BUs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and play a key role in new business venture projects where required.
  • Review/prepare analysis of monthly financial statements, as well as inputs for quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
  • Generate recurring (monthly and quarterly) standardised reports on key areas related to the Group’s oil and gas assets.
  • Identify possible red flags and areas of concern in the Group’s oil and gas assets (e.g., impairment of carrying value, erosion of value, overspending, production volumes, etc.).
  • Review subsidiaries/BUs annual budget submission, periodic forecasting, budget monitoring, tax compliance, tax planning, and adherence to all relevant accounting policies.
  • Assists in cash flow planning of subsidiaries/BUs, taking into consideration requirements of other BUs of the Group.
  • Work closely with subsidiaries/BU’s Finance department and reporting team, to enhance quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Promote consistency and alignment of processes/format across subsidiaries/BUs.
  • Partners subsidiaries’ finance team on ad-hoc activities.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as prescribed by superiors and to assist in achieving Finance Department’s objectives.

 

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of other persons affected by his/her activities; 
  • Supporting the implementation of the HPB HSE Objectives and Action Improvement plans;
  • Support & participate in HSE Audits; 
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses in his/her place of work;
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement;
  • Participate as requested in Office Safety Meetings & workplace inspections; and
  • Actively involved in office Emergency Response drills.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a professional qualification from an internationally accepted accounting body (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, MICPA, CPA etc.) or Degree in Accounting
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience, with a minimum 3 years’ experience in management role
  • Strong understanding and relevant experience of the oil & gas upstream (E&P) industry is a key advantage
  • Experience in M&A, including due diligence scope 
  • Experience in auditing and corporate finance
  • Understanding of requirements of public listed environment in Malaysia 
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently to meet reporting deadlines
  • Detail oriented and able to be hands on in preparation of deliverables
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team 
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
  • A self-starter, proactive, meticulous, well organized and possesses strong analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills
