Process Safety Engineer

The Engineer, Process Safety reports directly to the Manager, Process Safety and is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s Process Safety Management (PSM) system. The role also provides technical process safety support to project delivery teams, while fostering a strong culture of technical excellence within the organization, with a particular focus on process safety practices and risk management across both PM3 and KNB assets.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. To support team in service delivery risk assessments improvements to relevant stakeholders and ensuring controls are implemented by communicating across all assets feedback as appropriate.
  2. To support deliverables, report relevant to Process Safety Management activities.
  3. To manage 3rd Party consultants’ compliance to Regulation by ensuring periodical cycle update of Safety Case, CIMAH, Hazard Risk Register and other requirements.
  4. To provide team’s technical input deliverables to Project and Engineering Departments.
  5. To participate in relevant assets activities associated with Major Accident Hazards (MAH) and other various risk assessment e.g.: Bowtie, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, FERA, etc.
  6. To prepare and assist Process Safety KPI report on leading and lagging indicator aspects.
  7. To assist and participate in the investigation of incident (as when required).
  8. To provide all technical safety studies reports required for greenfield / brownfield projects.
  9. To prepare, manage and monitor technical safety design work deliverables.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Hons) or equivalent qualification from recognized universities/academic institutions.
  • Possesses a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of working experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including at least three (3) years in the process and/or loss prevention engineering discipline, as well as a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong education background in chemical and / or process engineering.
  • Design work experience with fire water system applications.
  • Participate in Bowtie/HAZID/HAZOP/SIL Assessment workshops or seminars.
  • Design Work experience in Oil and Gas industries in Process & Loss Prevention engineering will be an advantage.
