Interns will receive a comprehensive overview of auditing within the oil and gas industry, equipping them with the latest techniques for risk identification and assessment. Interns will develop essential negotiation and report-writing skills, enabling effective communication and implementation of audit recommendations Additionally, interns will focus on sustainability by assisting in ESG audits to better understand the company’s environmental, social, and governance practices. The role also provides international exposure to global auditing standards, enhancing their understanding of diverse business practices. Guided by experienced auditors and managers, interns will receive valuable mentorship, fostering professional development and networking opportunities within the industry.

Interns must be available to start in March 2025. Interns will be given a monthly allowance. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email/phone call.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Document Review and Data Analysis: Reviewing financial and operational documents to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and industry regulations. Utilizing data analysis tools to examine non-sensitive datasets, identifying any discrepancies or anomalies.
  • Audit Fieldwork Support: Accompanying experienced auditors on fieldwork assignments to gain practical experience and assist in collecting audit evidence. This includes visiting sites, observing operations, and engaging with personnel to understand various processes and systems. They may be involved in real-time problem-solving during audits. This could involve analysing issues that arise unexpectedly and collaborating with team members to develop practical solutions.
  • Participating in Meetings: Attending departmental and possibly cross-departmental meetings to better understand the business and its challenges. Assisting in preparing meeting materials and presentations. 
  • Preparation of audit findings: Assist in the preparation of non-sensitive sections of audit reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established format.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, Quality Assurance, Procurement and Supply Chain Management or Law. Applicants should have a CGPA of 3.2 or above (or equivalent academic performance).
  • Strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to analyse data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other data analysis tools is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to group efforts and supporting collaborative achievements
  • A keen interest in the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
